Welcome

We hope you enjoy our website as it highlights the life and ministry of this historic parish which was founded in 1822. We celebrated 200 years of ministry in this location in 2022. We are part of the Diocese of Huron with the Rt.Rev. Todd Townshend as our Bishop. We offer Anglican Worship which comes from the Reformation and the time of King Henry VIII. We are a liturgical church whose prayers and eucharist attach us to the historical church which grew from following Jesus after his resurrection in approximately 33 C.E. or close to 2000 years ago. Our services grow out of the Book of Common Prayer (BCP) and our Book of Alternative Services (BAS). We worship with a wide variety of hymns and songs which help us to worship God and strengthen us in our daily lives.

We are part of the Anglican Communion which stretches around the world and has around 85 million members. The unique thing tying us together is when you enter an Anglican Church anywhere in the world you will recognize their worship, even if it is in a different language. A few years ago I had the wonderful opportunity to visit our companion Diocese of Amazonia in Brazil. My wife the Rev. Patty Dobbs Luxton and I, with a group from the Diocese of Huron were welcomed into people's homes and experienced Anglican Worship in Portuguese. We had translators to assist us but we still recognized the worship and could experience great unity with our Brazilian family of Christ. It was powerful experience.

I invite you to visit St.John the Divine in Arva and experience our community of faith. If you are looking for a faith community, we have ministry for children each Sunday, Sunday morning eucharist and outreach to the community including providing a monthly Pizza Lunch for Medway High School students. We aslo have active groups including the Friendship Group and Wednesday Coffee Group. We provide Choral Scholarships to music students to be a part of our choir.

God Bless You,
The Rev. Rob Luxton
